Today we had a Halloween parade and missed most of our short art class. Sad!
We did have some time to work on our radially symmetrical rose window drawings. The kids are working on coloring their designs with colored pencil.
I can color my rose window.

I can use a transfer process to create a radially symmetrical design.
Students used a transfer process where they take the graphite on their paper and rub it onto another part of their paper to create a symmetrical design. They will color with colored pencil. We also learned some new vocabulary words: Cathedral- a large important church Spire- The point of a steeple Pointed Arch- An arch that comes to a point on the top Flying Buttress- A supportive arch on a cathedral I can finish my winter card.
Students used oil pastel to create snowflakes on their backgrounds. The snowflakes should show radial symmetry. I can complete my stained glass window.
Students are finishing their radially symmetrical stained glass windows. They are also working on their tapestries. I can make a paper radially symmetrical stained glass window.
Students are using paper to create a cut paper radially symmetrical piece for a rose window. They will learn to fold, cut and glue the paper to make a beautiful piece! I can create a tapestry using the backstitch.
Students are creating another type of tapestry using the backstitch to create a border and a fancy letter in the center of their fabric. Today we visited the art truck and began to WEAVE!!!!!
Students love to weave because it is something everyone can feel good about eventually! We will be weaving until October 7th and will then start our second type of tapestry! |
