"I can color carefully with crayon"
Students are working to carefully color their illuminated letters. We worked the whole time today to color color color! They look AMAZING! We will spend one more class coloring and will then be finished with our first big project! Whoo hoo! "I can outline with sharpie and fill in my spaces with crayon"
Today we worked on finishing outlining our designs with sharpie. If students were able to finish they could then start coloring with crayon. Neat, complete and dark! They are looking very nice! "I can use a ruler. I can draw a design for an Illuminated Letter"
Today we created the borders for our Illuminated letter projects. We then started transferring our rough draft ideas onto the paper to create our fancy letters and symbolic borders. "I can work with my table to make a dot!"
Today we celebrated International Dot Day! We read the book "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds and then created beautiful circle paintings as table groups. Then we continued to brainstorm symbols and next class we will work on our lettering! "I can finish my vocabulary sheet and start making symbols"

"I can design a bookmark"
Today students worked on their rough drafts for their bookmark designs and then began to work on the final drafts! They will carefully color these with colored pencil and will be able to submit them to win an award! Here are what the pages of the elements of art booklets need to look like. If your student did not finish their booklet please have them complete the pages at home. Thanks!
This week students will begin working on a book called "The Elements of art" and they will start a design for the "Make your mark" bookmark design contest.
