Students are learning about differences between color in light and color in paint!
How did the art of ancient Rome communicate that the Romans thought their civilization would be around for many years?
Students are learning about the art of ancient Rome. We will look at multiple examples of architecture such as the Pantheon and the Colosseum. We will create a design for a temple for one of the Roman Gods or Goddesses. We will learn to draw the different elements of Roman architecture. We will create a mosaic frame using glass and tiles. This week we will be creating a doodle for google! We will be submitting these to a nation-wide contest!
Students will be following the prompt " What makes me... me" and will then use the letters in google to create their doodle. https://www.google.com/doodle4google/ We are starting to color our landscapes carefully with colored pencil. Students are paying particular attention to textures and details.
We finally get to print our wild things! Printmaking is an intense day full of fun and when we finish we have a gorgeous wild creature!
We will also start a landscape that illustrates the animal that students chose for their report. We will be working on this diligently for the next few weeks reviewing parts of a landscape. Students are learning about new ways that artists create an illusion of space. We read the story "Where the Wild Things are" by Maurice Sendak and then created a design for our own wild thing in a place. We needed to use the ideas of overlapping and texture on our wild things.
Students will turn these into printing plates later this week! |
